The Goethe Web Science-Initiative

The Goethe Web Science Initiative is a joint effort between various colleagues at the Goethe University to bridge and formalize the social and technical aspects of the World Wide Web. The Initiative is open to colleagues from other universities and research centers as well.

The aim of the Initiative is to provide academic curriculum and research with a shared knowledge pool that contributes to a better understanding of the contemporary scientific, technical and social challenges confronting Web growth.


The Goethe Web Science Initiative will sponsor activities in the following areas:

3. Events
4. Joint Projects
5. Web Science Services
6. Goethe Web Science Colloquium

with emphasis on cross-related research fields , such as:
- Computer Science
- Web Engineering
- Mathematics
- Artificial Intelligence
- Economics
- Psychology
- Anthropology
- Law
- Media & Commucation Sciences
- Sociology
- Biology
- Ecology
- Ethics

The Initiative will seek cooperation with the Web Science Trust (WST). The Web Science Trust brings together academic scholars, business leaders, entrepreneurs and policy makers from around the world.

Various colleagues of the Institute of Computer Science are part of this Initiative.
